Laura Kelly is a Glasgow-based, Northern Irish freelance multimedia journalist, columnist, podcaster and editor. She was also previously the Director of the Edinburgh International Magazine Festival.

In more than two decades of journalism she has shown a passion for social justice, feminism, music, film and magazines. She has extensive editing experience for magazines, news and culture websites and international news services. She is also an experienced events professional, both behind the scenes and as an on-stage speaker, interviewer and host.

Working for The Big Issue and as part of the broader international street paper movement, she has spent much of her career using journalism to offer people a path out of homelessness and poverty.

She strongly believes in the transformative power of culture and has recently been campaigning for the UK's grassroots music venues, as the founder of The Big Issue's Venue Watch campaign.
